Track Template for using two vsti's with a keyboard split so that the high vsti gets notes from C5 up and the low vsti gets notes from C5 down... you may also wish to apply this to whatever vsti's you load:

It may be that the instrument plug you inserted onto the tracks eat the MIDI (doesn't let the MIDI pass through the plugin). In that case right-click the box to the right of the "Param" box (the I/O box) of the instrument plug's header and choose "MIDI output" -> "Merges with MIDI input"<<

with that done you should be able to record on each vsti track only the midi notes it actually plays
